It’s Mystery Dahlia Tuber Season! Our fall sale is live — unlabeled dahlia tubers with FREE shipping is happening now.

Labeled varieties available spring 2026.

Our Mystery Dahlia Bundles make it easy to start growing — no planning, no pressure. Each bundle includes healthy, unlabeled tubers grown from our field of 5,000 dahlias. They are perfect for gardeners who simply love color and want to fill their gardens with beautiful blooms.

At First Roots Farm in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, our love for dahlias began with a single row and quickly grew into something stunning. What started as a small experiment to add more beauty to our fields has become one of our favorite parts of the season — growing, dividing, and sharing healthy, field-grown dahlia tubers with gardeners and flower farmers nationwide.

We now grow over 5,000 dahlias each year, focusing exclusively on cut-flower varieties — the ones with strong stems, bold color, and reliable performance in both gardens and bouquets. Every tuber we sell has been grown, harvested, and divided by hand right here on the farm, ensuring it’s healthy, true-to-type, and ready to thrive in your own soil.

First Roots Farm Dahlia FAQ

Our Mystery Dahlia Tubers are available for purchase each fall, with shipping beginning immediately after harvest. Labeled varieties are released in spring and tend to sell quickly, so we recommend signing up for our newsletter to be the first to know when they’re live.

Mystery tubers are unlabeled, healthy dahlia tubers from our cut-flower fields — ideal for gardeners who value color and abundance over variety names.Labeled tubers include specific, named varieties like Cafe Au Lait, Sylvia, or Bracken Rose and are sold in spring

We offer bundles of 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 tubers, each hand-divided and inspected before shipping. Every tuber has at least one visible eye and is grown from our cut-flower stock.

All tubers are sold individually, not as clumps. Each one has been divided by hand and checked for a viable eye to ensure it will grow true to variety.

We guarantee that each tuber will have at least one viable eye when shipped. However, once they arrive, growth depends on proper storage, planting conditions, and weather — all of which are outside our control.

We currently ship within the United States only.

We can’t modify existing orders once placed. If you’d like to purchase additional tubers, please place a new order — it will be processed and shipped separately.

Please inspect your order right away upon delivery. If there are any issues, contact us within 4 days of receipt and include clear photos. We’ll help file a claim with USPS and make it right where possible.

We’re unable to issue refunds or replacements for losses due to improper storage, weather, or planting conditions. Refunds or adjustments can only be made for issues reported within 4 days of delivery.

Keep them in a cool, dry place (around 40–50°F). A basement or insulated garage works well. Avoid overly damp areas — excess moisture can cause rot.

Wait until the risk of frost has passed and soil temperatures reach at least 55°F. Plant tubers 4–6 inches deep in well-draining soil and full sun.

Our larger mystery bundles (30, 40, or 50 tubers) are ideal for small growers and flower farmers looking to expand their crop. For larger wholesale orders, please email us directly to discuss availability.

Inventory isn’t reserved until checkout is complete.

Orders shipped without a heat pack during cold weather are sentat the customer’s own risk. First Roots Farm is not responsible for tubers that freeze, suffer cold damage, or become non-viable in transit if a heat pack was not purchased. We highly recommend adding one when temperatures are expected to drop below 40°F along your shipping route.
