The BCC: Sherie’s Story

The BCC: Sherie’s Story

Feb 24, 2026Janell Vera

Not every milestone announces itself — some settle in gently, carrying meaning that deepens over time.

Ten years cancer-free is one of those moments. Not because it closes a chapter, but because it reflects how life continues to expand, change, and take on new layers.

Sherie’s story is one of resilience, but also of presence. Like so many women touched by breast cancer, her journey didn’t end when treatment did. It evolved. It softened some edges, sharpened others, and created a deeper relationship with time, health, and gratitude. Survivorship is not a finish line — it’s a living, breathing chapter.

At The Breast Cancer Chronicles, we create space for that truth.

This project is more than a photoshoot. It’s a place where stories are shared, hope is cultivated, and a community grows stronger together. Created for survivors, fighters, and loved ones, each empowerment session offers a welcoming space for connection, reflection, and celebration — where every journey is embraced and every voice is valued.

Each session invites participants to share a part of their story in whatever way feels right. Through words. Through quiet reflection. Or simply by being present in the moment. These individual experiences come together like a vibrant bouquet — distinct, beautiful, and deeply connected — forming a collective tribute to strength, courage, and community.

Photography and florals become a shared language. With flowers in hand and stories captured through the lens, we lift one another up, honor the journeys that shape us, and preserve moments that might otherwise pass unmarked.

Sherie’s session was a reflection of this intention — a pause to honor ten years of living beyond cancer, surrounded by care, creativity, and community. Not as a retelling of everything she has endured, but as a celebration of who she is today.

Empowerment sessions are held throughout the year. If you or someone you love would like to be considered for a complimentary empowerment session, we invite you to visit The Breast Cancer Chronicles website for more information.

Together, we share stories.
Together, we cultivate hope.
Together, we remind one another that we are never alone.

About The Breast Cancer Chronicles

The Breast Cancer Chronicles is a movement of women, a celebration of strength, and a space to belong.

Our mission is born from a deep devotion to honor, uplift, and stand beside those impacted by breast cancer. Founded by Janell Vera of First Roots Farm and Whitney Hill of Whitney Nicole Photography, this project is rooted in compassion, connection, and an unwavering belief in the strength of community.

Through honest storytelling, heartfelt imagery, and the healing beauty of flowers, we create space for journeys to be honored, voices to be heard, and hope to take root. Every story shared becomes a light — inspiring strength, offering comfort, and reminding others that they are never walking this path alone.
